Electric bikes: Leasing or down payment?

09 Nov 2025 0 Comments

LEASING VS CASH?

The electric bike market has changed significantly since the tax benefit was removed in spring 2025. However, enthusiastic cyclists have not run out! Electric bikes are purchased for companies and private use in huge quantities every year. However, here is a comparison of whether it makes sense to buy an electric bike with leasing or with a down payment.

Electric bikes for companies with leasing financing are already a general trend in the market as a bike benefit. However, now that the employee bike benefit has been eliminated, purchasing electric bikes with leasing has not stopped. Especially in the accommodation and service business, purchasing an electric bike can be a great new source of income / additional income. If we take the example of an open-ended number and a company wanted to purchase two bikes for rental operations, only about 18 rental days per bike per year are needed to break even! All days rented after 18 days are just income for the company. The diagram below gives a clear indication of what a rental operation can be in a good case.

The following profit calculation illustrates the profit of two bikes, if the company had two bikes for rent and the annual rental rate was a moderate 40%. In many locations, volumes of up to 150 rental days are reached per year, which means a staggering annual profit of €14,703 for two bikes!

What about the down payment?

Of course, when you buy an electric bike with a down payment, you save on interest/financing costs. If you pay directly with a down payment, you can save a few hundred euros over the entire contract period. Also, a direct purchase eliminates the commitment to payment installments for a longer period. Of course, you can also get rid of financing by paying the entire amount during the contract period.

Whether you choose leasing or a down payment, purchasing an electric bike is still profitable this year. So get in touch and we'll find the best option for you!
